The Centre has extended the deadline for updating Aadhaar details for free till 14 June 2024. Earlier the deadline was March 14 but the Unique Identification Authority of India UIDAI on Tuesday extended the free online document upload facility till 14 June.

Here We Have New Rules And Fee For Adhaar Update 2024
There are actually two key updates about Aadhaar updation implemented by UIDAI:
- Free Update Deadline Extended: Previously, the deadline to update your Aadhaar documents online for free was March 14, 2024. However, UIDAI extended this deadline to June 14, 2024. - Mandatory Update Every 10 Years: UIDAI now recommends updating your Aadhaar information (including name, address, date of birth, or gender) every 10 years from the date your Aadhaar was created. Here are some additional points to remember:
- Updating your mobile number or email address associated with Aadhaar is always free and can be done online.
- After June 14, 2024, a fee of Rs. 25 will apply for online updates and Rs. 50 for updates at enrollment centers.
Steps By Step Process To Update Adhaar 2024
There are two ways to update your Aadhaar: online and offline. Here’s a step-by-step process for both methods:
Online Aadhaar Update:
- Visit the UIDAI website: Go to the official UIDAI website Website link is mentioned in the above table.
- Login: Locate the section titled “Update Your Aadhaar” under the “My Aadhaar” tab. Click on “Update Demographics Data and Check Status”. On the next page, click “Login”. You’ll need your Aadhaar number and a one-time password (OTP) sent to your registered mobile number.
- Choose Update Option: Select the specific information you want to update (name, address, date of birth, or gender).
- Enter Details: Fill in the required details and upload scanned copies of supporting documents as proof. Ensure the documents are valid, clear, and in the applicant’s name.
- Verification and Submission: Review all entered information and uploaded documents carefully. Once satisfied, submit the update request. You’ll receive an Update Request Number (URN) for tracking the update status.
Offline Aadhaar Update:
- Locate an Enrolment Center: Find a Permanent Enrollment Centre (PEC) near you. You can search for centers on the UIDAI website.
- Fill Update Form: Visit the PEC and obtain an Aadhaar update form. Fill out the form mentioning the specific information you want to update and your current mobile number.
- Submit Documents: Submit the completed form along with original and self-attested copies of supporting documents as proof of the update you requested.
- Biometric Verification: The PEC operator will capture your fingerprints and scan your iris (optional) for biometric verification.
- Acknowledge Receipt: You’ll receive an acknowledgement receipt with an Enrollment ID (EID) to track the update status.
Important Points:
- Make sure your mobile number is registered with your Aadhaar for online updates. You can’t update your mobile number online, so visit a PEC for that.
- Update fees apply after June 14, 2024. It’s Rs. 50 for updates at enrollment centers and Rs. 25 for online updates.
- Keep a copy of your acknowledgement receipt (online URN or offline EID) for reference.
